At a conference

What to expect at a conference.

A keynote, a book reading, clear ways to take the book home, and time for conversation that is not organized around a hurried signing line.

The shape of the day

More than one moment at the microphone.

Every event has its own schedule, but Erika’s conference participation can include a keynote, a book reading, panels or questions, and informal conversation in the spaces between.

The keynote

A prepared literary presentation

Story, reflection, practical lessons from lived experience, and room for the audience to consider its own questions.

The book reading

The live-signing moment

A reading creates a natural place for people who want Erika to sign a book in front of them. Attendees may bring a copy or purchase one there when event arrangements allow.

Afterward

Conversation without a conveyor belt

When the schedule permits, Erika would rather spend reception or lobby time talking with people than rushing through a long signing line while the rest of the event carries on.

Books at the conference

Choose the experience that fits.

A conference QR code will lead here, where readers can choose a standard edition, a signed copy shipped later, or the live-signing experience offered with a book reading.

Available online

Standard edition

Use the conference link to choose an available Kindle or print edition fulfilled through Amazon. There is no line, and the rest of the event stays yours to enjoy.

Coming soon

Signed and shipped

Order a copy for Erika to sign and fulfill directly. The planned order form will also include an optional note about where you met or what you discussed—details that may be easier to remember than a name alone.

At a book reading

Signed in front of you

If the signature itself is part of the experience you want, attend the book reading. Erika’s direct author copies include a hologram. If you bring another copy for her to sign, she carries spare holograms and can place one on the book after signing it.

Digital companion

A protected EPUB companion is planned for eligible direct book purchases. Once that delivery path is active, readers will be able to send the EPUB to a Kindle through Amazon’s Send to Kindle service. This digital benefit is not active yet.

The goal is to protect the human part of the gathering.

Why it works this way

Let the book line become a conversation.

After a keynote, people may be choosing between a reception, another program, a conversation with friends, and a book line. The QR path lets someone order without giving up the rest of the evening.

It also gives Erika room to be present with the people she meets. A conversation in the lobby can breathe; a signed copy can arrive later; and no one has to reduce a meaningful exchange to the few seconds available at the front of a queue.
